The development of welfare state in East Asia, especially the Chinese welfare state, is one of the most topical issues with in the field of comparative welfare state research. In China on fifth of earth population is to be covered by new pension schemes, social assistance schemes, unemployment benefits schemes etc. The Chinese modernisation also brings new family structures and an age profile which increase the need for service production previously undertaken by the family. CCWS is partner in the Sino-Danish Center and annually teach a course in the Public Management & Social Development program taught in Beijing.
